Finding Stronger Safes

After I started investing in gold instead of stocks and bonds, I realized that my cheap house safe was just not going to do the trick. I wanted to protect the hundreds of thousands of dollars that I had in gold, so I started shopping around for stronger, more durable safes. I was able to find a company that offered incredible locks and safes for reasonable prices, so I reached out to them for help. They were amazing to work with, and they even came out to my house to help me to fit the area for size. This blog is all about shopping for a better safe.

Locked Out Again? 3 Steps To Take To Prevent Lockouts

Blog

You never know when you're going to need the services of a locksmith. It might be when you lock your keys inside your house or when your lock gets stuck. Regardless of the reasons, you're going to want to get them out there quickly. While locksmiths are available for those emergency situations, it's good to know that there are some steps you can take that will help you avoid the need for their services. Here are three steps you can take that will help you get back into your house.

Lubricate Your Doorknobs

You might not know this but your doorknobs need preventative maintenance too. The locking mechanism inside doorknobs can get clogged with dirt and oils. When that happens, the pins inside the locking mechanism can get jammed and stop working. A dirty locking mechanism can make it difficult for the key to turn properly, which means your door won't open.

You can prevent lockouts by lubricating and cleaning your doorknob once a month. Simply apply a small amount of lubricating spray inside the locks and then use your key several times to lock and unlock the door. It's also a good idea to keep a can of lubricating spray in your yard for emergency situations. If your key gets jammed in the lock, simply spray a small amount of lubricant and try it again.

Keep a Spare Key Nearby

If your keys are locked inside your home, you're not going to want to break a window or force your way through the door. You can get back inside your home quickly by keeping a spare key nearby. Don't leave it in the yard, because burglars may know where to look, which will give them access to your home.

Instead, choose a location that a burglar wouldn't have access to but that you would. If you have a next door neighbor that you trust, you can leave a spare key with them. This will allow you to get into your home quickly. Another safe place to store a spare key is in your wallet. By keeping the spare key in your wallet, you'll always have a way into your home.

Install a Keyless Entry System

If you're tired of locking yourself out of your home, you might want to invest in a keyless entry system or electronic locks at LockWorks. These systems allow you to gain entrance into your home through an alphanumeric keypad. You can program the keypad to accept any alphanumeric sequence you desire. As an added benefit, you can change the key code as often as you like.
