Finding Stronger Safes

After I started investing in gold instead of stocks and bonds, I realized that my cheap house safe was just not going to do the trick. I wanted to protect the hundreds of thousands of dollars that I had in gold, so I started shopping around for stronger, more durable safes. I was able to find a company that offered incredible locks and safes for reasonable prices, so I reached out to them for help. They were amazing to work with, and they even came out to my house to help me to fit the area for size. This blog is all about shopping for a better safe.

3 Signs It May Be Time To Replace Your Gun Safe

Blog

A gun safe is an absolute must for any individual who wants to store firearms in their home. The safe not only keeps your family safer, but it also keeps your firearms out of the hands of a home intruder. However, to ensure the maximum benefit from a safe, it is critical that the safe be in good condition, and a large part of accomplishing this goal involves understanding when it is time to replace the safe.

1. Safe Opens on Its Own

If you ever come home and notice that your safe is open and you did not open it yourself, you want to take a closer look. Sometimes the locking mechanism on a safe can fail, especially those of low quality. Once the mechanism fails, the safe may not latch correctly when you attempt to lock it, so as a result, the lock might later open on its own.

A safe that does not remain locked defeats the person of having a safe. Additionally, while you can have the mechanism replaced, for a cheap safe it is not always worth it.

2. Too Small for Your Needs

When you first purchased the safe, you probably purchased a safe that would accommodate the existing number of firearms you had. However, if your collection has grown substantially and trying to figure out how you will put the firearms in the safe is like figuring out a puzzle, the safe is now too small.

Placing too many guns inside the safe is not good. First, you could exceed the weight limit for the safe, which could cause irreversible damage. Second, you could also potentially damage the firearms if they are shoved inside. When you upgrade, get a safe slightly larger than you need now, so you have room to expand your collection.

3. Lacks Quality

Again, quality is not necessarily consistent when it comes to gun safes. There are options that are made well, and then there are those that leave much to be desired. If your existing safe is in the latter category, you should consider a replacement.

Low-quality gun safes do not typically have high fire protection ratings, they have thinner walls, and their frames leave much to be desired. As a result, they do not offer as much protection as you might imagine.

If you believe it is time to replace your gun safe, do not put off the task. Look for gun safes that meet your needs and replace your old safe as soon as possible.
